Construction: The construction was designed for low maintenance utilizing modern materials. The hull is fiberglass with decks and wood trim made of cedar, mahogany or pressure treated pine. All wood was coated with polyester resin before painting. Attachments of parts such as cleats, bollards, rails etc. were done with epoxy resin and stainless steel screws. The masts are welded aluminum. The mainmast and foremast are constructed as upper and lower assemblies and bolted together.
A half scale seaworthy reproduction of Rene-Robert Cavelier’s ship LaBelle and is located in Palacios, Texas on Tres Palacios and Matagorda Bays.
